Radon Measurement and Mitigation Professional

Cost: $2 500 (exam fee included)

Location:  This course will have a classroom and onsite component.  The location is to be determined, but will be posted by January 1, 2018.

Course Focus:

Radon awareness is increasing, and with it is the need for properly trained professionals to help homeowners reduce their indoor radon levels.  This course is designed to prepare people to become Radon Mitigation Professionals certified through C-NRPP.  It is based on Health Canada’s scientific approach to radon mitigation.  Course participants will be trained in techniques to interpret radon test results, understand radon entry, conduct diagnostic testing and design and/or installation of radon mitigation systems and determine the most effective way to manage radon concentrations within buildings.

The objectives of the course include:

  • Understanding radon
  • understanding radon entry
  • Site survey in a residential dwelling
  • Communication Test with micromanometer
  • Design of piping and fan fitting
  • Identify difficulties in installation
  • Hands on experience

This course is essential for: Home Builders, Building Inspectors, Public Health Officials, Plumbers, Architects, Engineers, Building Designers

Monday, January 29 – 8 am Registration

  • In Class session 8:30am – 5pm

Tuesday, January 30

Mitigation Section:

Wednesday, January 31 

  • In Class session 8:30 – 5pm

Thursday, February 1 – 8:30 – 5pm

  • 1/2 day Field Exercises in the afternoon
  • 1/2 day in classroom
  • Measurement Exam– 7-9pm

Friday, February 2

  • Field Exercises 8:30 – 5pm

Saturday, February 3 

  • Question and Answer Session 9 am-noon
  • Mitigation Exam 1-4pm
