C-NRPP Mitigation Mentorship Program

The C-NRPP Mitigation Mentorship Program was developed to provide structure for the hands-on requirements of the C-NRPP Mitigation Course.

Why have a Mentorship Program?

Guidance and Objectives

This process was developed to support the hands on requirements through a distance-based process, and can also be used when a mentor is onsite. All mentorship forms must be completed to complete the requirements for the mitigation course.

Objectives of Mentorship:

  • Reinforce the practical aspects covered during the radon mitigation course
  • Gain feedback and insight from an experienced mitigation professional.
  • Establish a relationship with an experience mitigation professional for future questions.

Mentoring is a professional relationship in which an experienced person (the mentor) assists another (the mentee) in developing specific skills and knowledge. The C-NRPP Mitigation Mentorship Program provides feedback from a mentor during the installation of a residential radon mitigation system as a mentee installs a residential mitigation system independently, but with an experienced professional available for technical assistance during the process and to review the process after completion and provide insight and tips.

The mentorship process reinforces information learned during the course, but in a situation where the mentee must make the decisions and perform the tasks independently. The process provides support to a mentee while they make decisions regarding key areas encountered during typical mitigations. It will also include some insight into aspects such as health and safety, trouble-shooting and decision making through a mentor sharing experiences.

Mentee Criteria

A mentee should:

  • Commit to self-development
  • Assume responsibility for acquiring or improving skills and knowledge

  • Respectfully give feedback to the mentor on what is working or not working in the mentoring relationship

Mentor Criteria

  • Have been mentored themselves/ passed the mentorship test (Mentorship Tests involves going through the process of being a mentor with a rep from C-NRPP acting as the mentee).

Mitigation Program Step by Step

The C-NRPP Mitigation Mentorship Program was developed to provide support for practical aspects of the information covered during the C-NRPP Mitigation Course, and will extend the learning environment by connecting participants with an experienced mitigation professional, through a distanced-based relationship, while they walk through the steps involved in a radon mitigation system installation.

This is the first step in the mentorship process. The Mentee initiates the mentorship process by filling out the sign-up form below. Once completed and submitted, an available mentor will be selected and assigned to the mentee.

The mentor signs the mentor section of the signup form after which, the mentee will receive an email in acknowledgment of a successful mentorship match.

While waiting for confirmation, the mentee can proceed with completing the Scene Survey which will be attached to the acknowledgment email sent once the mentee sign-up form is completed.

After completing the Sign-Up form, you can proceed with the mitigation scene survey while you wait for confirmation from your mentor.

To begin the scene survey, you will need to enter the name of your Mentor from the signup confirmation email. If you haven’t received this by the time you have completed and clicked submit on the Scene Survey, you will receive an email with a link to re-access the Scene Survey and you can add it later.

Once the Scene Survey has been submitted with the name of the Mentor, the Mentor is emailed an attached pdf of the Scene Survey along with a link to the System Design Worksheet and the Mentee’s phone and email information. The Mentee is also emailed a confirmation email of successful survey submission and reception.

The Mentor would then email or call the Mentee to review the Scene Survey. Once the review is complete, the Mentor will email the Mentee the System Design Worksheet. The review will include, but not limited to, reviewing the Scene Survey and the System Layout Drawings as well as a discussion on potential Health and Safety issues.

The Mentee will receive a link to this section of the process after reviewing the Scene Survey with a Mentor. Once the Mentee completes the System Design Worksheet, a confirmation message goes to the Mentee and the Mentor with pdf copy of the completed worksheet along with a link to the Depressurization Assessment form.

On receiving the link to the Depressurization Assessment, the Mentee can complete the form. Once the Depressurization Test Report is completed, the Mentor and Mentee will receive a pdf of the completed form with a copy of a homeowner resource from CMHC, then the Mentee will be asked to complete the Mitigation Completion form which will require the Mentee to upload pictures of the completed mitigation system. The final step in the Mentorship process will include the Mentee and Mentor completing an Evaluation Form. Separate links will automatically be emailed to the Mentor and Mentee to evaluate the C-NRPP Mitigation Mentorship Program. These evaluation forms will be kept confidential.

Evaluation:
After completing the Depressurization Assessment, the confirmation link will include a link to the evaluation survey which is filled out in order to improve the mentorship processes and parties. Neither the mentor, nor the Mentee will receive each other’s responses. Responses will be confidential and used for improvement purposes only.

Completed Migration:
On completion of the Depressurization report, a link will be sent to upload pictures of documents used during the mitigation process.
